CSA FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I USE SNAP/EBT?

EBT/SNAP shoppers receive half price veggies with Maine Harvest Bucks administered through MOFGA! Folks paying with EBT/SNAP can expect to charge their EBT/SNAP card $15 at every Wednesday pick up.

What can I expect in a weekly share?

Weekly shares are an average of $30 of value. We strive to provide a nice diversity of veggies each week.

Example shares:

Late spring: carrots, sugar snap peas, bunched green (kale or chard), radishes, head of lettuce, bunched herb (parsley or dill), scallions

Summer: cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, romano beans, zucchini, beets, lettuce mix, red onions

Fall: spinach, delicata squash, sweet peppers, tomatoes, head of lettuce, onions and garlic

Are the veggies organic?

Yes, both our produce and our kraut are MOFGA Certified Organic.

What if I am unable to pick up a share?

1.You are welcome to send someone to pick up your share in your place.

2. We understand you all have busy schedules! We offer two self-selected blackout dates per season. Please tell us by the Monday of the week you would like off. If you need to miss more than two dates your missed share(s) will be donated to the Belfast Soup Kitchen or your share value will be donated to our Second Frost Farm sliding scale CSA fund for future years.

Can I come pick up my share after hours?

Unfortunately not. This is a staffed CSA pick up from 4pm-7pm. We will not be set up to have folks coming after 7pm or later in the week. We definitely encourage neighbors to pick up shares for each other when that is helpful!
